Rashmi Shetty

Rashmi Shetty is a Mangalore-born celebrity dermatologist, an aesthetic medicine expert and an author. She is a member of the international advisory board of the Anti-Ageing World Congress.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

Early life

Shetty has an MBBS from Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences in Bellur, Karnataka. The Institute is affiliated to Mysore University. She holds a post graduate degree, specializing in DDV - Dermatology and Venereology from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the Mumbai University. She has completed PGP Women Entrepreneur Program from ISB (Indian School of Business) with a full scholarship from Goldman Sachs. She has a Fellowship in Cosmetology from Chester, UK and Advanced Training in Injectable Aesthetic Solution from Bangkok and Paris.

Career

Shetty started her career in 2001. She is the founder and chief consultant at Ra Skin and Aesthetics in Santa Cruz, Mumbai and Aesthetic Division of REVA Health and Skin in Hyderabad. She is on several international advisory boards and scientific committees, including Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Marico, Bio-Oil, Femina Miss India, Actor Prepares, Allergan India and Aesthetics and anti-ageing Medicine Asian Congress (AMAC). As Pond's expert, she has given advice to the finalists at Pond's Femina Miss India Chandigarh 2013.[8][9]

Awards and achievements

Shetty is the recipient of ‘India’s Most Promising Non-Surgical Aesthetic Medicine Award’ at the 5th Pharmaceutical Leadership Awards (2012); ‘Best Non-Surgical Aesthetic Medicine Expert’ at the 6th Pharmaceutical Leadership Awards (2013); Promising Young Achiever of the Year’ at the Indian Health & Wellness Awards (2014), ‘Indian Icon Award’ (2015) and "Newsmakers and Achievers Award "in Aesthetic Medical Practice Category (2016).[10] She has also launched Juviderm, Voluma, and Refine, the injectable products of the multi-national pharmaceutical company Allergan, in the Indian markets.[11]

Publications

  • Shetty is the author of ‘Age Erase’, a bestseller on skin care.[12][13]
  • She has also co-authored the chapter, Peri-Orbicular Rejuvenation, Ophthalmic Surgical Techniques.
  • Her article ‘Under Eye Infra Orbital Injection Technique: The Best Value in Facial Rejuvenation’ written for the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology 13 has received a worldwide acclaim.
  • In July 2015, her article Inner Circle v/s Outer Circle on a strategy to use volumizers in an Indian face was published in the Journal of Aesthetic Cosmetic Surgery.[14]
  • Her opinion on the debate Cannulas vs Needles was published in December/January 2015 edition of PMFA news.[15]
  • She has also published Peri-Orbital Rejuvenation of the Ageing Face: Understanding the Non-Surgical Treatments in the Journal of College of Ophthalmology of Sri Lanka in 2006.[16]
  • Other articles published by Shetty include Skin Lightening and Brightening Ingredients - An Overview in July 2013 in Ingredients South Asia; and Consensus on Current Injectable Treatment Strategies in the February 2016 edition of the Asian Face.
