Raja (2002 film)

Raja (transl.King) is a 2002 Indian Tamil-language romance film directed by Ezhil which stars Ajith Kumar, Jyothika, Priyanka Trivedi, Mantra and Sonu Sood in the lead roles. The film opened in July 2002 to mixed reviews and performed poorly at the box office.[2][3]The film was dubbed into Telugu as Nuvvu Naaku Kavali[4].

Plot

Raja (Ajith) is paranoid about getting married. Priya Mahalakshmi (Jyothika) arrives at his place and begins to compel him to marry her. The reason: Raja was confessing his love to someone else thinking that she was Priya.

Under the cover of darkness Priya confesses her love for Raja. Thinking that it was the other Priya Mahalakshmi (Priyanka Trivedi) who was speaking to him, Raja begins to love her. However, an unknown person arrives on the scene and murders Priya. How Raja seeks to avenge his lover's killer forms the rest of the story.

A fight scene was picturised on Ajit, Sonu and 40 stunt-men on a train that travelled from Mettupalayam to Ooty. For the scenes the train was hired for four days at a cost of about 40 lakh.[5]
