Polytech'Paris-UPMC

Within the French University Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris VI) there is an engineering school offering courses backed by research laboratories and leading to a state-recognised degree. The Polytech Sorbonne (previously Polytech'Paris-UPMC) is a member of the Polytech' Network, which is a network of 11 graduate engineering schools within France's leading science universities located in Marseille, Nantes, Montpellier, Nice, Grenoble, Paris, Chambéry, Clermont-Ferrand, Orléans, Tours and Lille.

General information

Status

Public school integrated to the Paris-VI University. It is under the guardianship of the French National Education, Superieur Formation and Research ministry. In January 2018, the Pierre and Marie Curie University campus merged with the world-known Paris-Sorbonne University , and "Polytech Paris-UPMC" renamed "Polytech Sorbonne".

The Polytech Sorbonne has eight cursus of Education :

  • Electronics and Computer Sciences
  • Geotechnics and Geophysics (Earth Sciences)

  • Agribusiness
  • Materials chemistry
  • Numerical Computer Science and Applied Mathematics

Moreover, students are encouraged to do extracurricular activities related to the School:

  • Associations: charities, cultural outings, fun-educational activities for children, ecological actions, entrepreneurship
  • French or English theater
  • Languages: Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, German, English, and even more.

Internships

During their training, students must complete several internships:

  • Third year: at least 4 weeks
  • Fourth year: at least 8 weeks
  • Fifth year: 6 months

Regarding the food industry, particularly in the third year, Woofing is allowed and it can be done abroad, allowing students to validate at least part of their international mobility.

Financial aid

The school offers an individual tutoring and an adapted formation for high-level musicians and athletes and also for handicapped or non-French students.

Educational Background of students

Agribusiness (AGRAL)

Existing since September 1983, this educational background leads to all the skills needed in the worldwide/international agribusiness industry. The agro-food industry includes different food products : beverages, dairy products, sweet industry, meat or fish products, animal and vegetable oil and fat, processing and preserving of fruit and vegetables, manufacture of grain mill products just as the manufacture of other food products (prepared animal feeds…)

At Polytech Sorbonne, the program often improves to become even better, and is focused on the grain sector, resulting in a partnership with AEMIC. To boost this course, field trips (like SIAL or the International Exhibition of Agriculture well-known in France: Paris International Agricultural Show, visit of Suresnes Grapevines are organized, which helps students to gain furthermore confidence in their career plans.

Pupils are recruited according to a very wide range of backgrounds and nationalities.

Electronics and Computer Sciences (EI-SE and EI-2I)

Two training choices:

  • Embedded Systems course (EI-SE)
  • Industrial Computer Science course (EI-2I), under apprentice status (in partnership with ITII Ile-de-France and the "CFA Mecavenir"), as well as in continuing education.
