It is licensed by the Australian Broadcasting Authority to broadcast within guidelines prescribed by the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia.

Plenty Valley FM's studios are based in the northern Melbourne suburb of Mill Park, and broadcasts to areas within the City of Banyule, City of Manningham, City of Whittlesea and the Shire of Nillumbik.

Current programs

Monday to Friday

  • Workdays: 10 am to 2 pm.
  • Afternoons: 2 pm to 4 pm, hosted by a different presenter for each day of the week.
  • Drive: From 4 pm to 6 pm, hosted by a different presenter for each day of the week.

These programmes cover issues that arise in the local community, around the country and globally. They also feature sport, traffic, weather, community service announcements, and a good variety of musical content.

International Programmes

PVFM provides a wide range of international programmes for local ethnic communities to enjoy during the week. These programs are broadcast between 6 pm and midnight, and are presented in several languages, as follows:

The weekends normally feature a selection of specialised programs, many of which focus on specific music genres such as rock music from the 60s to the current day, an all Beatles show that airs occasionally entitled From Us To You, a program called How Blue Can You Get that focuses solely on the Blues, nostalgic top 40 tracks from past decades on Those Were The Days, retro classics and recent hits on Wired For Sound, plus the very best of Country music on The Country Club.

The Heat Is On is one of PVFM's longer running variety weekend programs, and is broadcast on a Saturday night at 6pm hosted on alternate weeks by Chris Keating and Harry T.

Saturday

The weekend kicks off with the Saturday edition of Here Comes The Sun (7 am to 9 am). Saturday is traditionally Plenty Valley FM's sports day, with a number of programs throughout the day covering a variety of sports that range from local to international level. During the winter months, daytime programs include Outside The Arcs (11 am to 1 pm), a program that's dedicated to all aspects of Basketball, and during the summer the NMCA and DVCA Cricket Shows are broadcast throughout the morning. Other Saturday programs include How Blue Can You Get (1 pm to 3 pm), One Summer Hits & Memories (3 pm to 6 pm), The Heat Is On (6 pm to 8 pm), Those Were The Days (8 pm to 10 pm) and Trash Disco (10 pm to midnight).

Sunday

Sunday broadcasts commence with Here Comes The Sun (7 am to 8 am), followed by Valley Lifestyles (8 am to 9 am), a show that covers local events, gardening, and food & wine, the Christianity show God's Not Dead (9 am to 11 am), and then a series of specialist music programmes, 100% Aussie (11 am to 12 noon), The Country Club (12 noon to 2 pm), Wired For Sound (2 pm to 4 pm), Le Jazz Diverse (4 pm to 6 pm), Classic Rock Class (6 pm to 9 pm) and Pleasant Valley Sunday (9 pm to midnight)

Overnight Music

At midnight and weekday mornings, 88.6 Plenty Valley FM broadcasts Plenty Valley FM Overnight and Mornings, during the day and overnight.

Northern Football Netball League

Plenty Valley FM broadcasts the Northern Football League Match of the Day each Saturday during the winter football season from 1 pm to 5 pm. The program kicks off with a one-hour preview of the day's upcoming fixtures across all three senior divisions of the NFNL, after which the award-winning commentary team presents a live broadcast of the weekend's selected feature match that includes score updates throughout the afternoon from the other competitions on the day.
