Pine Creek High School

Pine Creek High School (PCHS) is a public high school in Academy School District 20 that serves the Pine Creek, Gleneagle, Black Forest, Northgate, Cordera, and Flying Horse Ranch neighborhoods of north Colorado Springs, Colorado. The school opened in 1998 and currently serves approximately 1,500 students in grades 9 through 12. Pine Creek, to the other students of Academy District 20 is classified as the rival.

Achievements and recognition

The school has won many John Irwin School of Excellence Awards, and scores well on the TCAP (Transitional Colorado Assessment Program).

Pine Creek DECA (business students) has had the largest number of Colorado participants eligible for the National DECA competition for many years running.

Extracurricular activities

Pine Creek offers a diverse collection of activities for student participation. The school allows its students to design their own clubs (with the approval of a few teachers and administrators) if they are not satisfied with current clubs. The school has seen many victories in various athletics over the few years it has existed.

Athletics

Football

The football team regularly makes it to the 4A Colorado playoffs. In 2011, The team competed in its first State Championship against Valor Christian but lost, 66-10. In 2013, Pine Creek won its first state football championship, beating Montrose High School, 49–14, and bringing a football championship to Colorado Springs for the first time in more than a decade. In 2014, the school went through the season undefeated and beat Longmont High School, 45-20, en route to their second straight 4A championship. In 2016, the school won its third state championship in four years defeating Broomfield High School. They have won 25 straight games and have qualified in the state championship three times in the last four years.

Wrestling

In 2012, the Pine Creek wrestling team won the 5A State Championship, the first championship title in the school's history.

Soccer

On November 9, 2013, the men's soccer team won the 5A State Championship. They won 1–0 with a game-winning goal by Jay Morales at the 107-minute mark.

Arts

Pine Creek has an award-winning choir program, has received regular recognition for its visual arts programs (Visual Arts, Graphic Arts, and Ceramics), and has performed at The International Thespian Conference in Denver for its productions of musicals and dramas in 2005.

In June 2015, Pine Creek performed their award-winning show Xanadu at the International Thespian Conference in Nebraska.
