Pershing High School

John J. Pershing High School[1] is a public high school in Detroit, Michigan, United States. It is a part of Detroit Public Schools. It is in Conant Gardens,[2] in proximity to the residential areas.[3] It also serves Krainz Woods.[4] DPS will re-assume control of Pershing High in fall 2017.[5]

In 2012 Kettering High School closed, and some students were rezoned to Pershing.[6]

The school is currently managed by the Education Achievement Authority (EAA), which took over control of the school in 2012.[7]

In 2014 a teacher used a broom to attempt to break up a fight between two students; as a result,[8] she was fired by the EAA.[7] A video of the fight had been posted online. Later the EAA offered her back a job, but she declined, and in 2015 she sued the EAA in federal court.[9]
