Pakistani cricket team in Ireland in 2020

The Pakistan cricket team were scheduled to tour Ireland in July 2020 to play two Twenty20 International (T20I) matches,[1] ahead of their tour of England.[2][3] It would have been the first bilateral T20I series between the two sides.[4] Cricket Ireland confirmed the fixtures for this series in December 2019.[5]

Pakistan were also scheduled to play a three-match One Day International (ODI) series against the Netherlands prior to the series.[6] However, on 22 April 2020, the Dutch government announced that it had banned all events in the country, both sports and cultural, until 1 September 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[7][8]

In April 2020, Cricket Ireland's Chief Executive, Warren Deutrom, stated that international cricket in Ireland during 2020 was at "high risk" due to the coronavirus pandemic.[9][10] Deutrom later stated that Cricket Ireland would "make every endeavour to be as flexible as we can" in regards to any rescheduled fixtures.[11] The Irish government announced a provisional date of 20 July 2020 for a possible restart of sporting fixtures in the country.[12] However, the tour was postponed on 15 May 2020 due to the pandemic.[13][14]
