Osvaldo Haay

Osvaldo Ardiles Haay (born 1 May 1997) is a Indonesian professional footballer who currently plays for Indonesian Liga 1 club Persija Jakarta and the Indonesia national team. He plays mainly at winger but can also operate as a striker.

Personal life

Osvaldo's mother, Buanitawati came from Banyuwangi, East Java whereas his father, Edison Haay came from Papua. Notwithstanding the fact that he was born and bred in Papua, Haay understands some of the Javanese language derived from his mother's side. According to the footballer, he had visited the ancestral heritage homeland in Banyuwangi.[2] Haay has two brothers, Jefry Haay and Jeremiah Denilson Haay.[3]

Career

Persipura Jayapura

In 2016, Osvaldo Haay was promoted to Persipura Jayapura senior team for 2016 Indonesia Soccer Championship A at the age of 17.[4] Starting in a match against Arema Cronus F.C., Haay scored his first senior goal on 24 October 2016.[5]

Persebaya Surabaya

For the 2018 competition, Persebaya recruited Osvaldo Haay.

Persija Jakarta

For the 2020 competition, Osvaldo Haay playing for Persija.

International career

He made his international debut for Indonesia on 21 March 2017, against Myanmar, where he came as a substitute.[6] He scored his debut goal on 4 December 2017, against Mongolia.
