Marketing

Sports Ambassadors

In November 2018, added pro-volleyball star Janet Wanja[1][2] and her football brother star Kevin Kimani as brand ambassadors. The duo starred in multiple Odibets commercials, billboards and adverts.

Sports Sponsorship

The company is the official shirt sponsor of Mathare United F.C..[3][4][5] In addition, the company has a 35,000 jerseys initiative with local teams around Kenya.[6] They also collaborate with various soccer stars like Allan Wanga,[7] former Kenya national football team coach Jacob Mulee to carry out football clinics at various sports venues where players are selected for European Leagues.[8]

For the new KPL season, Odibets announced that it had terminated its shirt sponsorship deal with Mathare United F.C. citing the increase in taxation on gambling companies in Kenya as the main reason.[9][10] Although many gambling companies in Kenya such as SportPesa had their licenses banned, Odibets and others like Betika still operate.[11]

On December 5th 2019, the Football Kenya Federation through its president Nick Mwendwa, announced that they had signed a sponsorship deal for their county leagues with Odibets dubbed Odi Mtaani.[12][13][14]

Controversy

In 2018, Odibets was linked to the son of Kenya's former president Mwai Kibaki (DSIA) - Jimmy Kibaki but this claim has yet to be confirmed.[15]
