Nizamuddin Asir Adrawi
Nizamuddin Asir Adrawi (Urdu: مولانا نظام الدین اسیر ادروی) also known as Asir Adrawi (born 1926) is a contemporary Sunni Hanafi scholar, historian and an author of Urdu. He is known for his Tarikh Jamiat Ulama Hind (2 volume work on The History of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind) and the biographies of Muhammad Qasim Nanautavi, Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi, Mahmud al-Hasan and Hussain Ahmad Madani.[1][2]

Early life
Asir Adrawi was born in Adri, Mau in 1926 in colonial India. He was enrolled in Madrasa Faydh al-Ghuraba, Adri for his primary classes. He then went to Jamia Miftahul Uloom and studied there under Habib Al-Rahman Al-Azmi, Munshi Zahir-ul-Haq Nishat Simabi and Maulana Abdul Latif Nomani.[2][3] He later moved to Madrassa Ehya-ul-Uloom in Mubarakpur, where his teachers included Shukrullah Mubarakpuri, Bashir Ahmad Mazahiri, Muhammad Umar Mazahiri and Mufti Muhammad Yaseen. He then moved to Darul Uloom Mau where he studied Mishkat from Abdur Rasheed al-Hussayni and Jalalayn from Qari Riyasat Ali. He tried to get admission at Darul Uloom Deoband but was unsuccessful and thus went to Madrasa Shahi for higher studies and graduated in 1942. He studied Sahih Bukhari from Syed Fakhruddin Ahmad, Sahih Muslim from Ismail Sambhali and Tirmidhi from Muhammad Miyan Deobandi.[2]
Career
Adrawi established Madrassa Darus Salam in Adri, Mau in 1954. He served as Officer In Charge of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow from 1974 to 1978. He later taught Islamic Sciences in Madrasa Jamia Islamia in Rewri Talab Varanasi from 4 February 1978 until he was bedridden due to his old age.[2][3]
He has written some 30 books in Urdu. He is known for his short stories in Urdu.[2][4]
Literary works
Adrawi has been the editor of 3 monthly Tarjuman and has written hundreds of articles for it. He has been columnist and writer for Weekly Al-Jamiat and Daily al-Jamiat. He wrote biographies of Muhammad Qasim Nanautavi, Rahmatullah Kairanawi, Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, Mahmud al-Hasan and Hussain Ahmed Madani.[1] His books include:[2] [5]
