Moventas Gears Oy is a Finnish company manufacturing mechanical power transmission equipment and providing after sales service for the renewable energy industry[1]. Moventas’ technology strives to lower the cost of energy across the lifecycle of wind energy generation, from superior gearbox design and manufacture to extensive multi-brand service.

Moventas is headquartered in Finland, where it has two manufacturing units. All in all Moventas has ten manufacturing, service and sales units in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific and it employs over 500 employees globally. Moventas is owned by the global industrial engineering firm Clyde Blowers Capital, based in East Kilbride, Scotland.

Moventas' roots are in Valmet Power Transmission and Santasalo Gears. Between 2001 and 2005, the company was a part of Metso Corporation and called Metso Drives.

Moventas is among the first companies to extend the gearbox expertise into wind turbines. Moventas has over 35 years of expertise in wind industry, as its gearboxes have been used in wind turbines since the 1980s. Moventas installed base is over 14,000 units globally. Moventas provides after sales service to its own as well as third party gearboxes of almost any brand.
