On 25 July 2018, Royal Moroccan Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa, confirmed Morocco will apply for the 2030 World Cup bid.[6]
Background
The 2030 bid is Morocco's sixth bid to host the FIFA World Cup after a record five unsuccessful attempts in 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2026. If successful, it will be the second African country, after the 2010 tournament in South Africa, as well as the second Arab and Muslim majority country after the 2022 tournament in Qatar, as well as the first time in North Africa.[7]
Possible joint bid
Morocco are possibly planning to co-bid with two UEFA and two CAF members Spain, Portugal, Tunisia and Algeria. If Morocco can co-bid with the two European nations it will be the first to be held in more than one continent. Morocco is likely to co-bid with Algeria and Tunisia or Spain and Portugal.[8] In case of Algeria-Tunisia option the host cities could be them, which have or are going to construct capacity of 40,000 or more. Tunisia would have 4 over 40,000 seat stadiums to serve, which one is existing, one waiting for major rebuilt, one in construction and one in planning stage. Algeria would have to serve 10 stadiums, which three of them will be renovated and others later built. This could make decisions to make list of Moroccan stadiums very tight if there would be 16 stadiums with 5 matches instead of 20 with 4 matches per stadium. \
