MonsterMind

MonsterMind is a U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) program which creates an automated response to a foreign cyber-attack.[1]

The existence of the program was revealed by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden who claimed the program watches for unusual Internet traffic patterns that might show an attack, including using algorithms to examine metadata. Upon detection and identification, it automatically blocks the traffic from entering the United States.[1][2]

While similar programs have existed for decades, MonsterMind is unique in that it has the capacity to retaliate autonomously, without any human prompting it to do so.[1]
