Masaki Suda

Taishō Sugō (菅生 大将, Sugō Taishō, born February 21, 1993), known professionally as Masaki Suda (菅田 将暉, Suda Masaki), is a Japanese actor and singer. He played Philip in the series Kamen Rider W. He received the Japan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. His debut song is "Mita Koto mo Nai Keshiki."[1][2]

Career

Acting

Suda met talent agents while in middle school. He went to several auditions and was a finalist at the Amuse 30th-anniversary audition and the 21st Junon Superboy Contest. He signed with the Topcoat agency under the stage name. He played Philip in the long-running tokusatsu series, Kamen Rider, starring in six films between 2009 and 2011. His performance was well received, and he was cast on several television series. His film debut role after Kamen Rider was in The Backwater. Suda starred in the live-action version of Daily Lives of High School Boys. The following year, he had a supporting role in The Light Shines Only There. For his performance, Suda received the Best New Actor award from the Tama Cinema Forum. He played Akuma in the television drama Shinigami-kun. The following year, he played Karma Akabane in the second live-action manga version: Assassination Classroom. Suda starred in the web miniseries Death Note: New Generation and its subsequent film, and in Setoutsumi. Suda starred in Wilderness, receiving the Japan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role.[3] He starred in the 2018 live-action film My Little Monster, and voiced Shazam in the Japanese-dubbed version of the 2019 film.[4][5]

Music

Suda appeared in the biopic film about Hide of the group Greeeen. They released an EP, Green Boys, in 2017.[6][7] Suda released Play, his first solo album, in March 2018. His second album, Love was released in July 2019.

Personal life

Suda and his two younger brothers were born in Osaka. As a child, he is a soccer player, dancer and piano player. His friends include Kento Yamazaki,Taiga Nakano and Fumi Nikaido.[8][9] When asked if he was dating Nikaido,[10] he said that they were just friends and Nikaido is like a family member. In the music industry, he is close to Ishizaki Huwie and Aimyon.[11][12]
