History

The school was opened on September 14, 1998, with 227 enrolled students.[1] By 2001, the school had doubled in size, recording a figure of 453 students.[1]

Since 2008, the school has run an annual "blood drive", in which students are encouraged to become blood donors.[4] The drive is organised in collaboration with Guyana Red Cross and the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS).[5]

The school hosts an annual spelling bee, religious education quiz, Marian quiz, debate, elocution, sports day, Marian run, school fair, family fun day, PTA concert, etc.

There is also an outreach at Christmas where students bring gifts, non-perishable food items, toiletries, etc for the less fortunate. Marian has also taken part in multiple fundraisers including donations to help soldiers, the poor and natural disaster victims.

Marian has many clubs, such as choir, environmental, chess, basketball, table tennis, lawn tennis, football, hockey, journalism and much more so that every student is able to find a recreational activity that balances their education.

Environs

It is between a YMCA and the Guyana National Park.
