Maria Quiñones-Sanchez

Maria D. Quiñones-Sánchez (born November 21, 1968) is an American politician who serves on the Philadelphia City Council representing the 7th district. A member of the Democratic Party, she has held office since 2008.[1] She was the first Hispanic elected to the city council.[2] She has frequently clashed with the Democratic Party establishment in the city.[3][4][5]

Quiñones-Sánchez was born in Puerto Rico and moved to the mainland in the 1960s with her mother and brothers.[3] She lives in Norris Square in North Philadelphia and has two children with her husband, Tomas.[1][6]
