Malmal

Malmal Village is a village situated 3 km away from its block Kaluahi and appx 17 km away from Madhubani city in Bihar State. Currently Malmal village is one of the largest villages out of the 1111 villages in Madhubani district. It has two Panchayats: North Malmal Village and South Malmal Village.

The total population of the village is 21,153. The literacy rate is 87%. The female literacy rate is 68.15%. The male literacy rate is 89.96%.

History

Malmal was established during the time of Akbar by Malmali Khan, one of the Translators in Akabari darbar. After the establishment of New Raj Dharbhanga, several expansions took place in order to develop the taxation system in the Mithila region. Raj Darbhanga had 4,495 villages in 18 circles in Bihar and Bengal and employed over 7,500 officers to manage the estate at that time.

Geography

The nearest villages are: West: Champa, Naraila, Belauniya (known as Belauna) East: Bardepur, Pursolia North: Rarh South: Mohammed Pur (Kaluahi). Qazitola (haripur).[1]

Education

There are so many resources of education in malmal Islamic as well as modern education. For Islamic education many madarsa's are there ..among all madarsa one of the biggest and oldest madarsa is Madarsa chashma-e faiz, whose founder is abdulbari machhli Shahri. It was established in 1815-1820,now madarsa is one of the branch of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow .

Right now the current principal of this Madarsa is Maulana wasi Ahmad Qasmi, and vice principal is Maulana Makeen Ahmad Rahmani ..

From this madarsa more than one lakh huffaz learnt the Quran, and that's the reason, there is one well-known saying "Malmal ki murgiyan bhi haaafiz hain".

Madarsa Chasm-e-faiz does not only provide Islamic studies but also modern studies are taught. In front of this madarsa one big mosque is situated whose name is Jam-e-masjid malmal. The current imam of this mosque is moulana Moinn ahmed nadwi.

There is one more oldest Madarsa named Talim-ul-quran established in 1900 by Amanat Ali marhum muhallah shumali. There is one beautiful Mosque infront of Madarsa established by Amanat Ali. The current principal of this Madarsa is Maulana Mustahsan Sahab Qasmi.

For modern education many governments and private schools are there. One of the modern school specially for girls is Safa Girl's High School which provide education up to class tenth for girls & up to class fifth for boys. It was established in 1992. Current principal of this school is Waseemur Rahman .

Religion and Caste

The two predominant religions in the village are Muslims and Hindus. The various hereditary, endogenous castes, called jāti, are still bound by traditions regarding interactions and intermarriages.

Culture

The standard of living is similar to that of the northern Bihar region. The majority of people are now educated and work in many mncs with higher posts and earns very well and there are many big and medium businessmens earning great profit so the standard of housing and food are better in comparison of other village. There are roads and good electricity supply all over the village and there are many branded shops present in this village. Many middle class residents have houses made of cement or concrete. Food - Vegetables and Fish are the primary diet of the village. Garments - Dhoti and kurta, and Muslims wear kurta, pyjama and topi.

In every year many cultural programs are celebrating ..like mushaera, baitbazi, quiz, panel discussion, drama etc. There are many types of festivals are celebrate by Hindus like durga puja, Kali puja, sraswati puja, chhatt, depawali and holi etc. and for Muslims like eid-ul-fitr and eid-ul-azha etc.

Sports

Sports facilities are inadequate or non-existent in the village, but sports, such as cricket, badminton, carrom Boards swimming, marathon, kabaddi, and kho kho, are becoming more popular. In 1984 one Tanzeem, Eslah-e-moashra, was established. This club had participated in the cricket tournament of Rasheed Pur was declared winner of any cricket tournament and awarded the "Discipline Cup" due to the extra ordinary discipline of players.

Apart from above two more social group of youngsters were estabalished during 1989-90 in Malmal called "Barg-e-Nau" and "Subh-e-Nau". Under them several inter-village level of sports competition were held which tremendously led upliftment of sports culture in youth in Malamal and allied village. The main events were swimming, Marathon and its variants(frog race, jalebi race etc.)& Cycling.
