Malik Gant

Malik Gant (born May 29, 1997) is an American football safety for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Marshall University.[1]

Early life and college

Gant was a safety and cornerback at Woodson High School in Washington, D.C., the same high school as former NFL quarterback Byron Leftwich.[2] At Marshall University Gant redshirted his freshmen year, and went on to appear in 12 games as a reserve safety in 2016 as a redshirt freshmen making six tackles. In 2017, Gant would have a breakout season as a redshirt sophomore with 100 tackles and five passes defensed. In 2018, as a redshirt junior Gant made 95 tackles, two interceptions and eight passes defensed.[2]

Professional career

Gant was signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2019.[3] He was placed on injured reserve on August 31, 2019.[4]
