Route background

The Kilometre Zero of the Federal Route 51 is located at Seremban, at its interchange with the Federal Route 1, the main trunk road of the central of Peninsular Malaysia.

History

The road was constructed by British in the 1920s.

Features

At most sections, the Federal Route 51 was built under the JKR R5 road standard, allowing maximum speed limit of up to 90 km/h.

There is one alternate route: Bukit Putus Bypass (Paroi–Ulu Bendol).

Bukit Putus section replacement bypass

The section of the Federal Route 51 from Paroi to Ulu Bendol known as Jalan Bukit Putus is notorious for its narrow and dangerous sharp corners. Construction of the new 6.7 km bypass including Bukit Putus Viaduct replacing the old narrow road started on 2006 and it was completed in the early 2009. On November 2009 the bypass was opened to traffic.
