Lukut

Lukut (Chinese: 芦骨) is a suburb of Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The historical Kota Lukut is located here.

History

Lukut region, which included Port Dickson, was part of Selangor until 1880, when it was ceded to the Minangkabau kingdom of Sungai Ujong, which expanded and became Negeri Sembilan in 1895.

Kapitan Yap Ah Loy stayed in Lukut between 1856 and 1868, before he was appointed Kapitan Cina of Kuala Lumpur.

Economy

Lukut also famous for its Bird's Nest (Swiftlet Nest) industry. It is a traditional natural healthy food as most Chinese believed. One of the famous brand is Hutanis Bird's Nest (福等您燕窝) which originates from the town.

Politics

Along with Port Dickson town and much of Port Dickson district, municipal services in Lukut are the responsibility of the Port Dickson Municipal Council (Majlis Perbandaran Port Dickson).

Lukut falls under the Port Dickson (formerly Telok Kemang) parliamentary constituency. It is represented by Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Anwar Ibrahim.
