Background

After Play was released on November 6, 2017, SM Entertainment announced that the album's repackage would be released on April 12, 2018. The title track was confirmed to be "Lo Siento," and marked Siwon's return. Shortly after, Heechul announced he would not promote the album due to his leg injury.[2]

A special version of "Lo Siento" is also included inside the digital version of the repackage album, featuring KARD. Somin and Jiwoo from Kard joined the band to perform on Korean music programs.

Reception

The song gathered attention as it is the group's first collaboration with a foreign artist and that it includes several languages in one song. Billboard's Tamar Herman wrote an article on the single, describing it as a "bold, upbeat dance track" which combined "Latin pop’s tropical styling" and "rhythmic strings", forming a "steady beat".[3]

"Lo Siento" is the first K-pop song that charted on Billboard's Latin Digital Song Sales Chart, debuting at number 13. It also debuted at number 2 on the World Digital Song Sales chart from Billboard.[4]

In August, "Lo Siento" won an award at Kids' Choice Awards México 2018 in the best collaboration category against many big musicians such as Luis Fonsi, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Marshmello, David Bisbal, and Sebastian Yatra. [5]

Live performances

Super Junior promoted the song featuring Kard on several music programs in Korea, including M Countdown, Show! Music Core, Music Bank and Inkigayo.[6][7][8][9]
