From 1960 — when the Crop Research Division potato breeding programme released 'Tahi' and 'Rua' [...] — cultivars (except 'Toru') were released for predominant use as processing cultivars [...]. [...] Iwa has increased in popularity and is now the third most important cultivar behind Rua and 'Ilam Hardy'.
(Tahi in the Maori language of New Zealand means "one"; rua means "two"; toru means "three" and iwa means "nine".)
