First performed at a solo concert in La Scala on October 29, 1813. The audience was so impressed that they requested a repeat.[4] Jean Schneitzhoeffer was so inspired by Paganini's performance that he based the scene of Old Madge's witchcraft which opens Act II of his ballet La Sylphide (1832) on Le Streghe.[5]
