Radio

Beginning in 1990, KCFX, "101.1 The Fox", had broadcast all Chiefs' games on FM radio under the moniker of The Chiefs Fox Football Radio Network. In 1994, Mitch Holthus began serving as play-by-play announcer. In 2016, former Kansas City Chief Kendall Gammon began to transition from his duties as a sideline reporter to color analyst. Prior to 2017, the role of color analyst was performed by Hall of Fame Quarterback Len Dawson who retired after 33 years.[2] As Gammon takes over for Dawson, Dani Welniak (former Women's Professional Football player) has replaced Gammon as the sideline field reporter. Dan Israel and Art Hains also contribute to the broadcasts.[1] KCFX held the broadcast rights to Chiefs games through the 2019 season, including the final game of the Chiefs season, Super Bowl LIV.[3] The Chiefs and KCFX held the distinction of being the longest FM radio broadcast partnering tenure in the NFL.[1][3]

On December 5, 2019, the Kansas City Chiefs and Entercom announced that effective February 16, 2020, the FM home of the Chiefs would move from KCFX to WDAF, becoming the new flagship station for the Chiefs Radio Network. Additionally, Entercom would receive programming for KCSP-AM 610 Sports Radio, including a weekly in-season press conference coverage, as well as a weekly radio show on Monday nights.[4][5]

The Chiefs Radio Network extends throughout 12 states, including Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois, Colorado, Kentucky, South Dakota, New Mexico, and Texas with more than 90 affiliate stations.[1][3]

Television

KCTV Channel 5 (CBS) broadcasts all games when the Chiefs host an AFC opponent or play on the road. KCTV also broadcasts all Chiefs pre-season games. WDAF-TV Channel 4 (Fox) broadcasts games in which the Chiefs host an NFC opponent. KHSB Channel 41 (NBC) broadcasts all games in which the Chiefs play on NBC Sunday Night Football or NBC's NFL playoffs coverage.
