Leonore, Illinois

Leonore is a village in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States. The population was 130 at the 2010 census.[3] It is part of the Ottawa Micropolitan Statistical Area. Leonore is known locally as the site of a bank robbery.[4]

Geography

Leonore is located in southern LaSalle County at 41°11′22″N 88°58′53″W (41.189377, -88.981384).[5] It is 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Ottawa, the county seat, and 15 miles southeast of LaSalle.

According to the 2010 census, Leonore has a total area of 0.09 square miles (0.23 km2), all land.[6]

At the 2000 census there were 110 people, 52 households, and 30 families in the village. The population density was 1,279.8 people per square mile (471.9/km²). There were 54 housing units at an average density of 628.3 per square mile (231.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.09% White, and 0.91% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.82%.[8]

Of the 52 households 17.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% were married couples living together, 3.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.4% were non-families. 34.6% of households were one person and 17.3% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.12 and the average family size was 2.71.

The age distribution was 14.5% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 25.5% 65 or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females, there were 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.

The median household income was $36,250 and the median family income was $53,750. Males had a median income of $30,750 versus $26,250 for females. The per capita income for the village was $19,465. There were no families and 1.8% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 6.5% of those over 64.
