Lemon Tree Hotels is a hotel chain company based in India. It is India's largest hotel chain in the mid-priced hotel sector, and the 3rd largest overall, in terms of controlling interest in owned and leased rooms, as of 30 June 2017, according to the Horwath Report.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8]

The company owns and operates 80 hotels,[9] with over ~8000 rooms in 48 cities of India till date. Lemon Tree Hotels was founded by Patanjali (Patu) Keswani.[10] This award-winning Indian hotel chain opened its first hotel with 49 rooms in May 2004.[11]

The company operates under 7 brands: Aurika Hotels and Resorts (upscale), Lemon Tree Premier (upper midscale), Lemon Tree Hotels (midscale) & Red Fox by Lemon Tree Hotels (economy), Keys Prima (upper midscale), Keys Select (midscale) and Keys Lite (economy).[12] In 2019, the company acquired Berggruen Hotels Private Limited for an enterprise value of Rs 605 crore. At the time of acquisition, Berggruen Hotels owned 936 rooms and managed 975 rooms under the 'Keys' brand in 21 cities across India.[13]

In India, its hotels are located in major destinations such as Ahmedabad, Alwar, Aurangabad, Baddi, Bandhavgarh, Bengaluru, Bhiwadi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Corbett, Dehradun, Delhi, Gangtok, Ghaziabad, Goa, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Katra, Kerala, Manesar, Noida, Patna, Pune, Siliguri, Srinagar, Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Vadodara.

As the current pipeline becomes operational, Lemon Tree Hotels will be operating 105 hotels with ~10,500 rooms, across 66 cities in India and abroad.

Lemon Tree Hotels went public in early 2018 and listed on the National Stock Exchange of India on 9 April 2018.

Employment of Opportunity Deprived Indians, including Employees With Disabilities

Currently, ~20% of group employees are from this segment of the population.[14] Lemon Tree has also developed a standard process to induct people with disabilities into its entire hotels pan India. Lemon Tree Hotels believes in being an equal opportunity employer and has been recognized on various platforms for its work towards employing differently abled.[15]

Tribal Art

Lemon Tree Hotels is the largest buyer nationally of tribal art from Bastar, Chhattisgarh. This enables the group to support poor tribal craftsmen in this region and allows the chain to showcase their art extensively across its hotels.

Pooch Policy

Lemon Tree Hotels adopts a stray dog at each of its hotels across India. They name the dog, inoculate it and feed it well. Based on the personality of the dog, he/she is assigned a ‘fun’ role in the hotel and this brings joy to employees and guests alike.

A supporter of the NGO, PeTA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals), each of its hotels in India has an adopted dog mascot. It is the largest corporate adopter of stray dogs in India.[16]
