Kris Tassell

Kris Tassell (born 16 September 1973) is a former Wales international rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played at representative level for Wales, and at club level for the Canberra Raiders (Heritage № 135), Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs (Heritage № 601), North Queensland Cowboys (Heritage № 46), Salford, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats (Heritage № 1179), and the Swinton Lions, as a fullback, wing, or centre.[1][2][3][4]

Background

Tassell was born in Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia, he has Welsh ancestors, and eligible to play for Wales due to the grandparent rule.

International honours

Tassell won 11 caps for Wales in 2000–2004 while at Salford, Wakefield Trinity and Swinton 6-tries 24-points.

Tassell played in the 2000 Rugby League World Cup for Wales and won man of the match honours in the first round game versus the Cook Islands in which he scored a hat trick. He further added to his tally in the semifinal game against Australia where a valiant Wales team gave Australia their biggest scare of the tournament going down in the last 20 minutes after having led most of the game.
