Kim Janey
Kim Janey is an American politician, representing District 7 (includes Roxbury, with parts of the South End, Dorchester, and Fenway) on the Boston City Council, since January 2018. In January 2020, she was selected as president of the council.[1]

Starting in 2010, Janey was a Senior Project Director at Massachusetts Advocates for Children prior to her election to the City Council. She held a variety of positions there since she first started at the non-profit in 2001. Previously, she was a community organizer for Parents United for Child Care.[2]
Janey was first elected to the council in November 2017.[3] She won the low-turnout election with 55.5 percent of the 8,901 votes cast.[4] She was subsequently re-elected in November 2019 with over 70% of the votes cast in her district.[5]
Janey received a bachelor's degree from Smith College in 1994.[2] She lives in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston,[6] and is affiliated with the Democratic Party.[7]
