Kessef Mishneh

Kessef Mishneh is a commentary of the Mishneh Torah, the work of the Rambam Maimonides. The Kessef Mishneh was written by the Rabbi and sephardic cabalist Joseph Karo, the author of the Shulchan Aruch, in the town of Nikopol, Bulgaria, and was published in Venice, Italy, between the years 1574 and 1575. In the introduction of his work, The author writes that his goal was to quote the source of each law that appears in the Mishneh Torah, and to defend the work of the Rambam from the arguments of the Ravad, Rabbi Abraham ben David.[1][2]The Mishneh Torah (in Hebrew: משנה תורה) is a code of jewish religious laws, made by Rabbi Maimonides, an important sephardic authority, who is also known as the "Rambam". The Mishneh Torah was compiled between 1170 and 1180, while Maimonides lived in Egypt. This book is considered one of the greatest legal works of Maimonides. The Mishneh Torah is a systematic compilation of all the normative views of the Halacha (the jewish law), and incorporates material from the Talmud and its commentaries. It is written in a simple Hebrew, similar to that of the Mishnah.[3]
