Kasthuri (magazine)

Kasthuri or Kasturi is a major Kannada monthly family-interest magazine[5] published in Karnataka, India, which has its headquarters in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It is also published from Mangaluru, Gulbarga, Davangere, and Hubli.[6][7][8][9][10][11]

Kasthuri covers topics like society, Kannada poetry, science fiction, spirituality, health, travel, technology, cookery, book review, beauty. It publishes a large number of editorial cartoon, on politics and society.[12][13]

The magazine is subscribed in educational institutions like Tumkur University,[14] JSS College of Arts, Commerce & Science,[15] Kuvempu University,[16] Mysore University,[17][18] Mangalore University,[19] and Gulbarga University[20] etc.

History

Kasthuri (RNI:Reg.No.3633/1957)[21] was first published in 1921.[4] Ranganath Ramchandra Diwakar, an ex-president of the KPCC,[22] established the ′Loka Shikshana Trust′ (meaning: World Education Trust) [23] on 27 April 1933, which publishes Kasthuri and Karmaveera (a weekly Kannada magazine).[24][25]

Kannada writer and poet, P.V. Acharya,[26] was one among the many editors of Kasthuri,[23] including Radhakrishna Bhadti[27] and writer, journalist Nagesh Hegde[28]
