Main Plot

An ageing mother is worried about her only son, Harsha, who doesn't believe in marriage and has no intentions of giving up his wayward lifestyle. She's about to give up on him, when she meets Bhuvaneshwari, a small town Kannada teacher, who loves the land and its language, and is everything that Harsha is not. In a final bid to make her son fall in line, she devices a plan that leaves Harsha shocked as shell! Will he abide by her wishes? Can Bhuvi make him a changed man?

Story So Far

Bhuvaneshwari is a part-time Kannada lecturer in a college in Hasirupete who is very passionate about her job. While everyone hopes to learn English and is forgetting other languages, Bhuvaneshwari hopes to teach Kannada and preserve it. When she decides to visit her good friend Varudhini in Bangalore, she ends up at a luxurious party thrown by a successful businessman named Harsha Kumar.After learning the past of Sanya, Aditya's fiance, Ratna fears that the marriage might not be an ideal move and asks Aditya to reconsider. Stubborn and ignorant to the warning, Aditya pays no heed to her words.With Adithya's wedding taking place, Varudhini gets busy supervising all the decorations and ensuring that everything goes smoothly. Meanwhile, Chandana, the assistant who was fired by Varudhini, arrives and notices that Bhuvaneshwari is handling all the work that she used to. Enraged at being replaced, will Chandana try to sabotage the wedding.Sanya's mother presses on calling off the marriage if Rathna denies Adithya a share in her property. Meanwhile, Bhuvi realises that the Mangalsutra has gone missing.When Rathnamala informs Sanya's parents that she refuses to give in to their blackmail and reveals that she won't be giving up any of the company shares, they get upset and decide to call off the wedding if she doesn't change her mind soon. After talking to a lawyer, Harsha suggests giving up 1% of the company's share as a wedding gift to Adithya and says that this decision will not affect the business in any way.While Sanya's parents continue to demand an exorbitant amount of dowry, Rathnamala refuses to give in to their blackmailing tactics. Later, Rathnamala advises Adithya to reconsider his decision to marry Sanya. But, he lashes out at her and calls her selfish for not fulfilling the demands of Sanya's parents.Noticing the tense atmosphere at the wedding location, Adithya decides to take Sanya on a romantic ride and they head out for ice cream. While talking to each other, Sanya tells Adithya about her parents' concern and wonders if their marriage will go forward.As the Mangalsutra for Adithya and Sanya's marriage goes missing, Varudhini begins to blame Bhuvi as it was her responsibility to get things in order.With Bhuvi's brilliant idea of using the turmeric thread as Mangalasutra, Adithya and Sanya tie the knot and take the blessings of the gathering. While the family members are busy with the post-wedding rituals, a police officer arrives at Rathnamala's house.The inspector informs Harsha and Rathnamala about his arrival for Dev's enquiry. Afraid of getting caught, Dev hides inside the cupboard, and Rathnamala requests the inspector to investigate him later. After the inspector leaves, Harsha enquires Dev.After Adithya and Sanya's wedding, Rathnamala grows worried about Harsha's reluctance to get married. Meanwhile, during an official meeting with Harsha, Varudhini enquires him about his marriage interest and relationship status.As Varudhini offers Bhuvi a job in her company, Bhuvi realises she will have the money to buy her ancestral home for her father. She accepts the job and approaches the owner to buy the house. Harsha receives mobile chargers and tea powder as gifts from a mysterious person along with a greeting card and starts wondering who could have sent it. He asks the people who brought the gifts to him, but finds that they do not know who sent it either.Despite Bhuvi's request, the house owner refuses to give additional time to pay the advance money. Left with no other option, Bhuvi approaches the house owner and pays him a small amount than demanded by him as an advance. Bhuvi arrives at the bus stand, notices a gathering and enquires them. After learning that Rathnamala is bitten by a snake and is fighting for her life, Bhuvi gets her hospitalised and the doctor asks her to pay money to start the treatment.Harsha reaches the office and learns that multiple meetings have been set up that overlap each other and gets annoyed by the lack of order in the company. Soon, he learns that Rathnamala isn't available to attend her important meetings of the day.Bhuvi brings Rathnamala to her home and prepares for her trip to Sigandur. Meanwhile, she learns about a girl being punished at the school for speaking in Kannada language and goes to the school to confront the headmaster.As Harsha and Varudhini head for a long drive, Harsha informs her about Rathnamala's sudden disappearance from the house. When Harsha suspects that she might have visited Hasirupete, Varudhini suspects that Rathnamala might visit Sigandur to find a solution to her problems.As Bhuvi and Rathnamala head to Sigandur, on the way Bhuvi notices a mother and a daughter. The mother informs Bhuvi that the principal is planning to issue transfer certificate to her daughter and requests Bhuvi's help to reinstate it.Bhuvi, along with the mother and the daughter arrives at the school and argues with the principal to allow the child to continue her studies in the same school. During the fierce argument, the principal slaps Bhuvi.With a hope of finding Rathnamala, Harsha arrives at the temple and looks out for her, but fails to find her. Meanwhile, after completing the ritual, Rathnamala falls unconscious and a shocked Bhuvi gets her hospitalised.Rathnamala learns that she has to undergo an operation and asks Bhuvi to stay by her side until the operation concludes. Without a second thought, Bhuvi obliges but soon realises that she has other commitments that require her immediate attention and wonders how to juggle them.Bhuvi is taken aback upon realising that Bindu's prospective groom is none other than the principal of the school, Sujay. However, a bigger shock awaits Bhuvi when Sujay talks to her in private and puts forth two conditions that she must fulfil if he has to say yes to the wedding.After being prompted by Varalakshmi to look out for Rathnamala at a specified location, Harsha visits the place and is surprised to meet Bhuvi there. After their initial conversation, Bhuvi enquires Harsha the reason for his visit to Hasirupete. As Rathnamala's surgery gets scheduled, she grows suspicious of her health condition and confronts Bhuvi to get further clarification. She asks her whether she is hiding a bitter truth about her health condition from her and if it could be cancer!After failing to find Rathnamala, Harsha visits a police station and seeks help to trace her, and the inspector asks him to file a formal police complaint. Meanwhile, the specialist surgeon who arrives to operate Rathnamala recognises her and enquires about Harsha.Upon noticing Bhuvi lost in thoughts, one of her colleagues advises her to seek principal's permission and go to hospital. Unaware that Sujay has complained against her, Bhuvi goes to principal's room and seeks his consent to leave early.Upon learning that Rathnamala is admitted to the hospital, Harsha is fearful for her health and talks to the surgeon regarding her operation. However, when he learns about the delay in her operation, he puts forth the idea of taking her to Bangalore to get treatment.Bhuvi manages to reach the hospital and tend to Rathnamala. However, she is left shocked after she gets to know that Ranthnamala is long gone with her guardian. She fails to find out who shifted her to Bangalore.After a successful surgery, Rathnamala regains consciousness. Unaware that she is not in Hasirupete, she calls out to Bhuvi but is surprised to find Harsha and the other family members waiting outside for her. Bhuvi arrives at the college and is shocked to learn that she has been fired from the job. Devastated by the turn of events, she meets the principal, apologises to him and makes an earnest request to reinstate her.Along with the mother and child, Bhuvi visits the school to speak to Sujay. Upon noticing her, Sujay assembles all the students and announces that Bhuvi is going to apologise to him in English. Harsha meets the surgeon and learns the shocking truth that Rathnamala is suffering from liver cancer and her survival chances are very low. Devastated by the news, he consults Varudhini about revealing the news to Rathnamala.While Harsha is trying his best to hide the truth from the family members, Rathnamala gets ready to head to the office. Surprised by Rathnamala's decision, Harsha advises her to stay back home and rest for few more days.Bhuvi approaches the principal of the school to seek permission to teach one last time. However, he resorts to mock her and tells her not to get involved in other people's business. He later agrees to let her teach but on one condition.While Bhuvi faces difficulty in clearing her father's debt by the next day, Harsha gets a call regarding Rathnamala's deteriorating health in the middle of his conference.Bhuvi decides to pay off the loan taken by her father and heads to meet the moneylender. To her shock, the moneylender calls her and asks her to return the money at a bar counter.Bhuvi gets into a fierce argument with the moneylender when demanded to repay more than what was lent. After returning home, Bhuvi is shocked to hear a knock on the door in the middle of the night and gets a call from the moneylender to open the door.After cleaning the wreckage, Bhuvi is shocked to learn that Bindu is missing from home. Suspecting moneylender's involvement behind Bindu's disappearance, she blames herself for taking Bindu along with her to the bar.Bhuvi feels relieved after finding Bindu in the tea shop and then visits the moneylender, Subbaiah's house. After showing the account details to his wife and considering her as the witness, Bhuvi settles the debt.After settling the debt, Bhuvi gets a pleasant surprise as she receives an interview call letter from Mala school. Unaware of Rathnamala's plan, she wonders if she had applied for the job vacancy.While Bhuvi is all set to leave to Bangalore for a new job, her father Nanjunda takes her along with him to talk in private. He pleads her not to return back to Hasirupete after getting a job at Bangalore.As Bhuvi is about to leave to Bengaluru, a soothsayer appears in front of her house and delivers a prophecy. Not only he predicts that Bhuvi will have a good fortune of money along with a marriage proposal, but also major drawbacks associated with it. Varudhini is running out of excuses to talk to Harsha and can't seem to get him out of her mind. She meets her therapist, who advises her not to stay alone during troubling times.Intending to find out the kind of daughter-in-law Rathnamala is seeking for Harsha, Varudhini meets with Rathnamala's assistant. Confused by Varudhini's sudden question, the assistant refuses to entertain her query but mentions that Harsha does not want to get married.To know the truth of her health condition, Rathnamala searches Harsha's room, finds her medical record and takes picture of it in her mobile phone. She then visits a doctor and shows it to him, who reveals she has advanced stage of cancer.Upon learning that she is suffering from cancer, Rathnamala tries to make peace with it. She confronts her family members who are eagerly waiting for her will to be drafted. Feeling guilty for hiding his mother's medical condition from her, Harsha tries to justify himself. Rathnamala decides to get Harsha married before it's too late and tries to convince him. Left with no choice other than fulfilling his mother's wish, Harsha agrees to her request, but puts forth a condition.As Rathnamala gives a deadline to Harsha to choose a girl of his choice to get married, Harsha shares his dilemma with his personal assistant, Ashitha. He seeks her opinion about love marriage and arranged marriage to decide which one is best for him.Varudhini heads out to meet Harsha for their date and takes Bhuvi along as she wants to buy some clothes. However, when Varudhini realises that she has left her purse in the car and goes to retrieve it, she finds her car being towed away by the traffic police. Despite parking in a no-parking zone, Varudhini argues with the officer and demands that he release her vehicle.Varudhini is held back at the police station as she continues to plead innocence to the earlier incident. The police think otherwise and taunt her by calling names. When Varudhini finally apologises, she is told to call any of her relatives to get herself bailed out.Varudhini is arrested and brought to the police station for her misbehaviour with a cop. Varudhini calls Bhuvi to bail her out. Despite Bhuvi's best efforts, the cops decline to release Varudhini and questions her mistakes.When the police officer refuses to let Varudhini go without getting a signature from a family member, her aunt suddenly arrives at the station and requests to speak with Varudhini for a while. The aunt tells Varudhini that she will sign her release form but puts forth a condition. Upon learning about Bhuvi's decision to join a school as a Kannada teacher, Varudhini loses her cool and reprimands her. Despite Bhuvi's effort to justify her decision, Varudhini throws her out of the house. After stalking Bhuvi, Rathnamala approaches and enquires her. When Bhuvi shares her problem, Rathnamala decides to accompany Bhuvi to help her get a house rented and to negotiate the amount.As Harsha develops symptoms of cold and high temperature, Sanvi asks him to refrain from returning home fearing he might be infected with the virus. Seeing Harsha's bad health condition, Bhuvi invites him to her house to help alleviate his symptoms. As Harsha's symptoms increase after arriving at Bhuvi's house, Harsha calls the doctor who advises him to self-quarantine and fearing he might spread the infection to Bhuvi, Harsha decides to leave the house. During their stay together, Bhuvi and Harsha have a conversation about Bhuvi's lifestyle. Upon noticing Bhuvi conversing in authentic Kannada language, Harsha advises her to adapt with the changing times and get updated.Bhuvi is left shocked when her father informs her that Bindu and her grandmother are planning on shifting to Bangalore the following day. Worried about Harsha's whereabouts, Rathnamala meets Bhuvi in private and shares her plan of accompanying her to her house. Shocked by Rathnamala's request, Bhuvi calls Harsha and informs him about bringing a guest to the house.Varudhini carefully plans her move and decides to visit Rathnamala's house for an interview for the post of an executive assistant.Despite being thrilled about bagging the job of Rathnamala's executive assistant, Varudhini is left disturbed after she overhears Sanya mention that Harsha's absence from the house might imply that he may be in a live-in relationship!After a lot of failed attempts to reach Harsha, Varudhini gets curious to know who he is with. Already tormented by the fact that Harsha may have a girlfriend, she makes up her mind to get to the bottom of the situation and confirm the identity of the mystery woman.Realising that she is getting unnecessarily worried about Harsha, Varudhini decides to cheer up and visits an ice cream parlour. During her outing, Harsha's secretary calls and informs her that he is staying with a girl, and she noticed it during the video call, which makes Varudhini furious.Whilst being locked in the house, Bhuvi and Harsha start getting to know each other better. Harsha is impressed when Bhuvi talks about her drive to teach Kannada to willing Bengalureans.Harsha and Bhuvi make the most of the situation at hand and get comfortable with each other with a game of chess. Amidst the battle of minds, Harsha is amazed by Bhuvi's thoughts and views.While Harsha and Bhuvi are engrossed in the game of chess, Varudhini's worst fears come true when her family refuses to support her. Varudhini's restlessness is further intensified when her psychiatrist refuses to answer her.Bhuvi is left shocked when Varudhini's psychologist approaches her with a few important facts about the latter. She learns that Varudhini is violent, secretive, self-destructive and living a double life and has fallen for a man who is not reciprocating her feelings.After learning about Varudhini's psychological condition, Bhuvi arrives at Varudhini's house and knocks on the door. As Varudhini neither answers the door nor the phone call, Bhuvi grows anxious.
