Kandukur, Prakasam district

Kandukur or Kandukuru is a town in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipality and the mandal headquarters of Kandukur mandal in Kandukur revenue division.[3]

Geography

Kandukuru (earlier known as Skandapuri) is located at 15.2165°N 79.9042°E / 15.2165; 79.9042.[4] It has an average elevation of 13 metres (43 ft).[5]

Demographics

As of 2017 India census,[6] Kandukur had a population of 1,54,000. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kandukur has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 55%. In Kandukuru, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Education

The primary and secondary school education is imparted by government, aided and private schools, under the School Education Department of the state.[7][8]
