Events

Initial reports suggested the fire broke out in a rooftop restobar, 1Above, and rapidly spread to next door pub Mojo's Bistro,[2][3] but a technical investigation report of the Mumbai Fire Brigade found the fire started at Mojo’s Bistro due to ‘flying embers’ from a hookah.[4]

Mumbai Fire Brigade's deputy chief fire officer R. Chaudhary said both establishments did not have emergency exits, working fire safety equipment, and flammable material such as tarpaulin sheets and artificial flowers for decoration aggravated the fire.[5]

The fire affected transmission of many television channels as several media companies had their broadcasting office in the compound. Times Now, Mirror Now and ET Now resumed transmission while Movies Now, Movies Now HD, MNX HD, MN+ HD, MNX, Romedy Now, Romedy Now HD and Zoom channels were not transmitting due to major infrastructure losses.[6]
