Noakes made his first-class debut for Kent against Sussex at the Royal New Ground, Brighton in 1826. Batting first, Sussex made 133 all out, to which Kent could only respond in their first-innings with 43 all out, with Noakes being dismissed for a duck by William Lillywhite. Sussex then made 143 all out in their second-innings, with Kent making just 71 all out in their second-innings, with Noakes making 8 runs before he was dismissed by George Brown. Sussex won the match by 162 runs.[1] He made a second and final first-class appearance in that same year against the same opposition in the return fixture at Hawkhurst Moor.[2] Sussex once again batted first, though this time they were dismissed for just 23. In response Kent made 62 all out, with Noakes being dismissed by Lillywhite for 11 runs. In their second-innings Sussex made 43 all out, with Kent going on to win the match by 9 wickets.[3]

He died at Lamberhurst, Kent, on 13 April 1840.
