Jeremy Brockes

Jeremy Patrick Brockes FRS (born 29 February 1948 Haslemere, Surrey) is a British biochemist,[1] and worked as an MRC Research Professor at University College London until 2016.[2]

Life

He earned a BA from Cambridge University, and a PhD in molecular biology from Edinburgh University in the laboratory of the late Kenneth Murray and Noreen Murray. He did post-doctoral research at Harvard Medical School (with Zach Hall) and University College London (with Martin Raff) before appointments at CalTECH, King's College London and University College London. He studied cellular interactions in the mammalian peripheral nervous system, and the mechanisms underlying limb regeneration in salamanders. He is the uncle of award-winning journalist and author Emma Brockes.

He currently plays chess as a FIDE-rated player. In the following game from the Preston Congress (2018) against S. Turner (white), black wins with a stream of tactics. 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3.
