Jeremy Barnes (cricketer)

Jeremy Paul Blissard Barnes (born 23 March 1970) is an English former first-class cricketer. Barnes was a right-handed batsman who played as a wicket-keeper.

Barnes was born at Orpington in March 1970. He grew up in Dorset and studied economics and politics at the University of Southampton, after which he worked in management consultancy. He then studied theology at the University of Oxford, where he attended Wycliffe Hall, Oxford.[1] While studying at Oxford, he made his debut in first-class cricket for Oxford University against Worcestershire at Oxford in 1998. He played first-class cricket for Oxford until 1999, making a total of eleven first-class appearances.[2] In his eleven first-class matches, he scored 248 runs at an average of 20.66, with a high score of 45. Behind the stumps he took 14 catches.[3] After graduating from Oxford, he was ordained as an Anglican clergyman. He served as the assistant curate of Holy Trinity Brompton until 2006, after which he became the assistant vicar at St Paul's Shadwell.[4] In 2009, he was appointed as the vicar of St Stephen's, Twickenham.[1]
