Holland is a surname that is often toponymic and indicates an ancestral origin in: Holland (The Netherlands) or England, namely Holland, Lincolnshire; Upholland, Lancashire and Holland-on-Sea (Essex). Holland may also be an anglicization of the Irish language surname Ó hUallacháin (which has sometimes instead been anglicized as Houlihan and Holohan). Holland is a common surname in many parts of Ireland. It is epecially common on the Beara Peninsula of County Cork.
