Scientists discover that fragments of a comet will hit Earth in a few days, and will likely cause the extinction of humanity; the only hope of survival is to take shelter in a group of bunkers in Greenland. The film follows the protagonists' attempt to get to that shelter.

Cast

Production

In May 2018, Chris Evans joined the cast of the film, with Neill Blomkamp directing from a screenplay by Chris Sparling.[1] In February 2019, it was announced Blonkamp would no longer direct the film.[2] That same month, it was announced Ric Roman Waugh would direct the film, with Gerard Butler joining the cast of the film, replacing Blomkamp and Evans respectively, with Butler joining as a producer under his G-Base banner.[3] In June 2019, Morena Baccarin joined the cast of the film.[4] In July 2019, Scott Glenn, Andrew Bachelor and Roger Dale Floyd joined the cast of the film.[5] In August 2019, David Denman joined the cast of the film.[6]

Principal photography began in June 2019 and wrapped on August 16 of the same year in Atlanta, Georgia.[7]

David Buckley, who previously worked with the director in Angel Has Fallen, composed the film's score.

Release

In March 2019, STX Entertainment acquired distribution rights to the film.[8] It was originally scheduled to be theatrically released on July 31, 2020, but was delayed to June 12, 2020, and then August 14, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[9][10][11]
