Girl Guides Singapore

Girl Guides Singapore (Malay: Pandu Puteri Singapura, GGS) is the national Guiding organization of Singapore. It serves 12,340 members (as of 2003). Founded in 1917, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1966. Formerly named The Singapore Girl Guides Association, the association took on its present name on 24 July 2004.

Program and ideals

The association is divided in three sections according to age:

  • Brownies - ages 7 to 12
  • Guides - ages 12 to 16/17
  • Young Adults - ages 17 to 25

The Girl Guide emblem incorporates the letters P P, for Pandu Puteri Singapura, Girl Guides Singapore in Malay, the National Language of Singapore.

  10. A Guide is self-disciplined in what she thinks, says and does.
