George H. Buckstaff

George H. Buckstaff was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate.

Biography

Buckstaff was born on March 8, 1837 in Saint Patrick Parish, New Brunswick.[1] During the American Civil War, he served with the 1st Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment (3 Years) of the Union Army. He was wounded during the Battle of Chickamauga.[2] On October 21, 1868, Buckstaff married Martha Murray. They would have three children.

Political career

Buckstaff was a member of the Assembly during the 1881 and 1882 sessions.[3] He was elected to the Senate in 1886 from the 19th District. Previously, he was a member of the County Board of Winnebago County, Wisconsin in 1878 and 1879. Buckstaff was a Republican.
