G. Shankar
G. Shankar [1]Arusha, East Africa[2]) is an architect from Kerala, India. Gopalan Nair Shankar is his full name. He advocates the use of locally available materials, sustainability, eco-friendliness and cost effectiveness.[2] He founded the Habitat Technology Group, Thiruvananthapuram, in 1987 and as of 2012, serves on a number of boards.[3] He has also won 3 national awards for green architecture, slum resettlement and eco city design.. [3] His attitude to "green architecture" has gained him a reputation as the "people's architect".[4] Shankar has been awarded the 2011 Padma Shri by govt. of India.[5]
