History

FDDI was established under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India in 1986 with an objective to provide human resource and technical services to the industry. FDDI was upgraded to an Institute of National Importance by an act of parliament in 2017.[3]

Academic Programs

FDDI conducts a range of professional courses in the area of Retail Management, Footwear Design, Technology, Management, Fashion Merchandising, Business Management, Visual Merchandising, Marketing, Creative Designing & CAD/CAM and Leather Goods & Accessories Design etc. The long-term courses are of two to three years duration.[5]
