The Arts Department

It could be said that the greatest asset to the Academy and Sixth form is its Arts department.

English: Each year the school allows students to partake in a 500 word short story competition with various prizes for first, second and third-place winners.

Drama: Occasionally the school encourages their students to join musical productions that they perform in the Hall to raise money for the school. The latest performance was on the 5th to the 6th of July 2019. It was a remake of ‘High School Musical’ based on a Disney Channel Original Movie and Book written by David Simpatico.

The production was directed by Jennifer Hart, former Drama teacher at the Academy. Assistant director, Sarah Curtis and 2nd assistant director Izzy Frammingham, both current teachers at the Academy. Produced by David Lloyd, current teacher and former student, and musical assistance by Chris Brown, former music teacher at the Academy. The Stage Manager was Sophie Brown, former Academy and Sixth form student, along with a Back Stage Crew Of current students at the Academy and Sixth Form, Izzie Thompson, Lili Briers and Scarlett Curl.

The cast for the production was purely Fakenham Academy and Sixth Form students: Gabriella Montez played by Gabriella Green, Troy Bolton played by Ieuan Jones, Sharpay Evans played by Annabel Nash, Ryan Evans played by Maxwell Lake, Chad Danforth played by Robert Bond, Taylor McKessie played by Alice Hobbs, Kelsi Nielsen played by Kaira Bundock, Zeke Baylor played by Jessica Pearson, Martha Cox played by Millie Delaney, Ripper played by Emily Collins, Ms Darbus played by Tegan George, Jack Scott played by Walter Mitchell, Cheer Captain played by India Ellis, Coach Bolton played by Jake Dorman.

The production was a huge success and saw the end to Jennifer Harts career at the Academy as her final year working at Fakenham after 14 years teaching.
