Plot

Ek Hazaroon Mein Meri Behna Hai, as the title suggests is the story of two loving sisters, Jeevika Chaudhary and Maanvi (Mannu) Chaudhary. Both the sisters have lost their mother when they were kids and their father had left them when Maanvi was just a kid. The sisters live in Hrishikesh, with their paternal great-grandmother(badi-beeji), grandmother(beeji), uncle Madan, aunt Pinky and cousin brother Dabinder ‘Dabbu’. Maanvi has weak immunity and is required to visit doctors regularly. They have a family doctor, Dr. Mannan, who treats Maanvi. He has a crush on Jeevika and so does she, which Maanvi approves and teases Jeevika. Jeevika is a loving teacher in the local school, whereas Maanvi is the mischievous one. Jeevika’s marriage is fixed with the rich, Viren Vadhera, who hails from a reputed family of lawyers from Chandigarh. Both Jeevika and Viren fall in love and get married, something that Maanvi was dreading. The idea of staying away from her sister breaks her heart but Viren brings Maanvi to Chandigarh as a gift for Jeevika on her birthday. The idea is not liked by Viren’s aunt Swamini and Grandfather Vijay Vadhera. Maanvi gets into constant scuffles with Viren’s younger playful brother Virat.

When Manvi stays in Chandigarh, she grows close to Jeevika’s mother-in-law Vanshika, Viren’s another aunt Kadambari and Viren’s uncle Inder, who is a struggling lawyer. She brings in confidence in Inder and makes him win a case that his father and sister thought would never happen. This buys Maanvi the respect from Vijay and Swamini. Meanwhile, Maanvi’s health deteriorates and she returns back to Rishikesh. Dr. Mannan reveals to beeji and the family that Maanvi has leukaemia, a type of blood cancer. Maanvi, when she realizes that she has cancer hides the fact from Jeevika as she knows that Jeevika would not be able to bare it. During a picnic in Rishikesh, Jeevika meets with an accident and is in need of blood. Maanvi refuses to give blood much to Viren’s anger. He brings Jeevika back to Chandigarh and treats her. Virat stays behind and asks Maanvi the reason and she reveals to him about her cancer much to his shock. He promises to help Maanvi and brings her to Chandigarh much to the Vadheras’ disappointment, especially Viren. He refuses Maanvi to meet Jeevika and makes up to Jeevika about Maanvi’s distance from her.

One day when Viren loses his control and shouts at Maanvi, Virat reveals to him, Vanshika and Swamini that Maanvi has cancer. Everyone is shocked and Viren apologises to Maanvi. He brings Maanvi to meet Jeevika but Jeevika learns that Maanvi refused to give her blood. The Chaudarys’ come to Chandigarh to celebrate Maanvi’s birthday and to prevent problems, Beeji requests Maanvi to reveal the truth to Jeevika. Jeevika breaksdown when she learns the truth and is consoled by Viren.

Virat and Maanvi fall in love. Jeevika overcomes the fact that Maanvi is dying and goes to Mumbai with Virat for her treatment. When Jeevika could not bare herself during Maanvi’s chemo, Virat comes to Maanvi’s aid. Soon, Jeevika reveals that she is pregnant but decides to abort the child to donate bone marrow to Maanvi. Everyone is against the decision except Viren. But things get smoothly over and Maanvi recovers. She gets married to Virat and moves in with the Vadheras.

Many problems comes and goes for the family. One such is by an imposter, acting as divorced Swamini’s deceased son Karan. He is actually an ally sent in by Viren’s past court nemesis Jaiswal to break the family. Jeevika and Maanvi find out and Jeevika seemingly kills Karan. Virat takes the blame on himself and both Jeevika and Virat are arrested. With Maanvi’s help, Viren finds the real accused as Jaiswal and arrests him.

Maanvi gets pregnant but Jeevika is unable to do so. Viren and Jeevika opt for surrogacy. They bring in Vidhi, a young woman as the surrogate mother. Vidhi takes a liking for Viren, which causes rifts between Jeevika and Viren. Jeevika decides to leave Viren but Viren promises that Jeevika is his only love. Vidhi’s ex-husband comes back. He is Harshad but also a look-alike of Viren’s friend Shashank, who is dead. Harshad creates problems and Viren gets him arrested. Jeevika and Maanvi’s father, Mahesh returns much to the Chaudharys’ shock. Maanvi realises that the man she had a friendship with is her father and forgives him. She brings Mahesh to Chandigarh and the Vadheras’ are confused. Jeevika gets shocked and refuses to forgive Mahesh, as she knew how her mother struggled with herself and Maanvi, as a single parent. Things turn out well and Mahesh happily reunites with his family and daughters.

Soon, Maanvi and Vidhi go into labour on the same day. Both give birth to baby girls. Vidhi leaves a note for Jeevika and Viren saying she is going far away and would never return.
