"Down by the Lazy River" is a song written by Alan Osmond and Merrill Osmond and performed by The Osmonds, released on January 15, 1972. It reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 on March 4, 1972, and spent two weeks at No. 3 on the Cash Box Top 100.[1] It also reached No. 40 on the UK Singles Chart in 1972.[2] The song reached No. 1 for two weeks in both the Netherlands[3] and Canada, and appeared on the band's 1972 album, "Phase III".[4] It was certified Gold by the RIAA on March 24, 1972.
