Dictionary of Frequently-Used Taiwan Minnan

The Dictionary of Frequently-Used Taiwan Minnan (Chinese: 臺灣閩南語常用詞辭典; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Tâi-oân Bân-lâm-gí Siông-iōng-sû Sû-tián) is an official dictionary of Taiwanese Hokkien (including Written Hokkien) commissioned by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan.[1] The dictionary uses the Taiwanese Romanization System to indicate pronunciations and includes audio files for many words. The dictionary was published on a trial basis in 2008 and published for general use in 2011.[2] The dictionary includes entries for 20,000 words.[1]

In September 2000, initial plans for the dictionary were put forth by the National Languages Committee. In July 2001, the Dictionary of Frequently-Used Taiwan Minnan Editorial Committee (臺灣閩南語常用詞辭典編輯小組) was established.[2]

In October 2008, a trial version of the dictionary was released. On July 7, 2011, an edited version of the dictionary was released.[2][3]

On July 5, 2018, a new slate of changes to the dictionary were announced.[3]
