Dheevara (song)

"Dheevara" (lit.'One with Perseverance') is a Telugu song from the soundtrack of the 2015 film Baahubali: The Beginning. Sung by Ramya Behra and Deepu, the song is composed by M.M. Keeravani[1] with lyrics penned by Ramajogayya Sastry.[2] Most of the lyrics of the song are written in Sanskrit. The song's chorus uses shlokas recited by Jambavan to Hanuman in the Sundara Kanda, which makes the latter realize his immense capabilities.[3]

The music video of the track features Prabhas as Sivudu alias Mahendra Baahubali and Tamannaah as Avantika. In this song, Sivudu completes the task of climbing the waterfall which was earlier thought to be impossible to do, inspired by the sight of Avantika.[4][5] The song was shot at Orvakal Rock Gardens located at Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, Athirappilly Falls in Thrissur, Kerala and Western Ghats in Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra.

Release

The audio of the song released on 31 May 2015 along with other tracks in the album.[6] The music video of the song released on 25 September 2015, through the YouTube channel of T-Series Telugu.[7] The music of the song received more than 18 million views on YouTube.[7] The song was released in Tamil as Veerane, [8] In Hindi as Khoya Hain[9][10] and in Malayalam as Njan Chendena.[11]

A rendition of the track had been released by Kerala-based Anju Joseph and her friends.[12] Called an 'a capella version of Dheevara' by The Hindu, it was performed without the use of any instrument and was shot by the lead singer's husband in forest areas of Kerala.[13]
