"Deep Inside of You" is a song by American alternative rock band Third Eye Blind, written by lead vocalist and guitarist Stephan Jenkins. It was released in August 2000 as the fourth and final single from the group's 1999 album, Blue, and peaked at number 69 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was more successful in Canada, where it reached number 43.

Background

Stephan Jenkins, the lead singer of Third Eye Blind, declared that the central meaning of the song is about "suicidal tendencies". Jenkins also stated that the song was inspired by the same woman who had inspired him to write the band's debut album.

Often described as a "moody ballad," the song is four minutes and ten seconds long.[1][2][3]

Release

"Deep Inside of You" was the fifth track on Third Eye Blind's album, Blue, which was released on November 23, 1999.[1] It was also included on Third Eye Blind's 2006 compilation album, A Collection, and on the soundtrack of Me, Myself & Irene.[4][5]

Music video

The song's music video was directed by Chris Applebaum and premiered in August 2000.[6]

Chart performance

"Deep Inside of You" spent 12 weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number 69 on October 7, 2000.[7] It also peaked at number 26 on the Mainstream Top 40,[8] number 39 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart,[9] number 26 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart,[10] and number 18 on the Adult Top 40.[11] The song also found success in Canada, reaching number 43 on the RPM Top Singles chart and number 26 on the Top 30 Rock Report.[12][13]
