Croatia–Ukraine relations

Croatia–Ukraine relations are foreign relations between Croatia and Ukraine. Croatia has an embassy in Kiev and an honorary consulate in Donetsk. Ukraine has an embassy in Zagreb and honorary consulates in Malinska and Split.

The countries are generally very close with each other,the reason is because of the similar History,Croatia helps Ukraine in the war that they have with Russia,Ukraine also made a Ukrainian version of the Croatian song Bojna Cavoglave that was made in Homeland war(Croatian war for independence)

There's a street in Croatia named after Ukraine-Ukrainian Street.A tree was planted there for a sign of friendship with Ukraine.The tree was also brought from Ukraine.

In 2018 in World Cup,a Croatian football player yelled on the stadion in Russia"Slava Ukrajini"(Glory to Ukraine)

History

Before 1991, both Croatia and Ukraine were part of multinational socialist states, SFR Yugoslavia and Soviet Union. Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia on 25 June 1991, but considering a three-month moratorium on the decision urged by the European Community, it put into effect on 8 October 1991. Ukraine proclaimed independence from the Soviet Union on 24 August 1991 and recognized Croatia on 11 December 1991 as first UN-member state which did it.[1] Diplomatic relations between two countries were established on 18 February 1992.[2]
