Route description

SR 539 begins at Route 20 in the town of Hartland across from the Hartland Recreation area and Berg Field. The road runs east crossing Moosehorn Brook before intersecting with Old Skinner Road. After intersecting with Welsh Road, the road crosses Ring Brook before intersecting with Jennifer Lane, Silkey Road, Donahue Road, and Cider Mill Heights. A mile after the Cider Mill Heights intersection, the road reaches Route 189 and ends.

The highway is mostly wooded on the sides, with the occasional building on the south side of the highway.

History

In 1962, the decision was made to give Mountain Road a State Road Designation, as it connected two frequently used state highways. Originally, the road was known as State Route 922 before it was changed to Route 539.[2]

Major intersections

The entire route is in Hartford County.
